Libya: Meltdown?

Qaddafi appears out of touch with reality in a world loosing its tolerance for heavy handed client states and his second son and heir apparent, Saif al-Islam, despite his progressive image, appears to be reinforcing the castle walls.

France24 reported on a Libyan naval ‘asset’ foundering off of Malta amid speculation that it may be defecting in the wake of Libyan Air Force jet fighters doing the same. But, perhaps more telling, the military spokesperson in Malta suggested that they couldn’t confirm the status of the Libyan vessel as they were unable to contact the Libyan military. Contrast that to Tunisia and Egypt where the military remained firmly in control throughout the unrest.
